As Pride Month Closes....

Writer: Tammy Wagstaff, LPC, NCC, ACSTammy Wagstaff, LPC, NCC, ACS

As the pandemic eases a bit and Pride celebrations resume all around the world, it is important to recognize that 2021 has been an unprecedented year when it comes to the legal challenges faced by the LGBTQIA community. In a month where you are asked to celebrate who you are, we have had disappointing Supreme Court rulings and state legislations excluding people from participating in life as they are. It has been encouraging to see some of these bills being vetoed and recognized for what they are - a solution to a problem that does not exist. It helps to see open support from so many high profile

businesses and public figures, and I hope it eases some of the pain these challenges bring.

For all the progress we have seen, there are still plenty of struggles ahead. Finding community and engaging in self-care are so important to weather these stressful times. What are some of your favorite ways to relax and manage stress?
